Granola

Here is the recipe for granola I used- but adapted with approximate measurements. I am sure you can to and take away what you want/need.
1 1/4 C Brown Sugar (I used rapadura)
2/3 C Oil (Maybe a little less)
1/2 C Honey
Mix these in a saucepan. Bring them to a boil and heat until the sugar is dissolved. I whisked occasionally while I measured out the dry ingredients.
In a large bowl mix together
8 C Oats
1 1/2 C Whole wheat flour
1/2-1 C Ground flax seeds
3/4 C Nonfat dry milk powder
1/2 t salt
1 1/4 t cinnamon- opt.
Any dried fruits you might want
Whisk all of the ingredients except the fruit in a large bowl. Once the sugar and oil mixture is ready, pour it over the dry ingredients and stir until combined. Pour the mixture into a jelly roll pan. I greased the pan but I don't know if that is really necessary. Put in a 375 degree oven and stir every 10-15 minutes. The granola should be in the oven for about 45 minutes. Once it starts to get brown it should be done. When the granola has cooled you can add the dried fruit. In my family, a few kids don't like the same fruits so what I do is bag it up with no fruit. Then when anyone wants some, they can add the fruit of their choice.
This is really an approximate recipe, I did keep track of how much I was adding but I don't normally measure like you are supposed to (unless I am baking). I really think it is hard to mess up granola, I have made many different granola recipes and they have all tasted good. This one is about the most cost effective one I have made and we all like it. I hope you do to.
If you have any more questions, let me know.
Take care.
